SSC are in development of an electric car. Based from the world’s fastest production car Ultimate Aero supercar. They are attempting to have the car ready by the fourth quarter of 2009. “I think we can do it faster, leaner and cleaner than any other manufacturer” says Jerod Shelby, SSC Founder. Just a note, Jerod is not related to Carroll Shelby and that is why they go by SCC.

So I just got back from getting my a/c charged. Oh what a ride home in a nice cool car. It’s freakin hot here in Texas and have been dealing with the heat for two summers. No more. Its finally installed and works great. I was actually surprised on how cold it does get. I bought the unit from Hot Rod Air and would have to say it was well worth it. As always whenever I add something to my car it requires me to get something else. My current electric fan does not cool the radiator enough now with the a/c running while driving in town. So off to buy a new fan.

With gas prices getting crazy this summer, people are looking into all kinds of different ways to get better gas mileage. $4 / gallon is expected for this summer. The only way I know how to get better MPG is just not drive, because I enjoy stepping on the pedal and going fast. Here is a great article on Popular Mechanics debunking 7 fuel saving myths. The one thing they didn’t mention is the best way to get better MPG is to drive slower.

August 22, 23rd, 24 the Good Guys Car Show is calling for all Bonneville racers at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds. This is going to be a featured attraction and has room for 40 cars and trailers. To reserve your spot in the exhibit, contact Diane Walsh at Goodguys (925) 218-9145 or via e-mail dianew@good-guys.com
The Bonneville race car display will be held inside the lush Pleasanton Fairgrounds. Fans will get a chance to see the salt splattered cars fresh from their speed trials. "We’re inviting the racers to come and share their hot rods with us in Pleasanton," said Goodguys Founder and Chairman Gary Meadors, himself a member of the Bonneville 200mph club. "Historically speaking, Bonneville and Land Speed Racing is the forerunner of the hot rod movement and it’s obviously still going strong today. It’s a real purist hobby and many street-driven hot rods being built today show signs of dry lakes and salt flat influence. Those salt flats racers are ‘real guys.’ They do it for love and the satisfaction of going fast. It’s hot rodding in its purest form and we’re hoping a lot of the guys will come and display their cars with us in Pleasanton."

So Tesla Motors opens its first store. If you have a cool $60,000 you can reserve your 2009 model. The base price will be $109,000 and the wait is approximately 15 months. They plan on opening a total of 5 stores in the key markets of San Francisco, Los Angeles (This store just opened), New York, Chicago and Miami.
The expected life spam of the batteries is 5 years or 100,000 miles. The warranty is what I have always questioned. I found this video on you tube that talks about it.
